About the Landfill
The Glenmore Landfill uses cutting-edge technology in its daily operations. Part of the Landfil Gas Management Program, the methane gas produced by the Landfill is collected and used to run a mircoturbine to generate electricity.
Leachate, contaminated water that accumulates at the bottom of the landfill, is also collected and re-circulated through the landfill gas collector pipes. This procedure enhances decomposition, creating more methane for electrical generation and more space for future landfilling.
