Seniors' Services
The City of Kelowna recognizes the important role seniors have and continue to play in the growth and development of our community. Senior citizens are a valued resource, providing wisdom, historical perspective and a deep pool of committed volunteers.
Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life for older adults, through meeting their social, educational, recreational and cultural needs and interests by:
- enabling and facilitating actions and decisions
- fostering growth and development
- creating partnerships with community based organizations and service providers
- incorporating healthy active living into daily lifestyles
The population of seniors is increasing rapidly and the City is facing significant decisions related to the future delivery of seniors programs and services. In 2005, the City worked with a consultant to prepare a Seniors' Services Strategy Report to address these issues and provide a series of recommendations to guide future service delivery and facility development. For a summary of the report see the Report to Council (Feb. 28, 2006).
