12 local businesses participated in the first Walk to Work Week October 4-8, 2010.

Businesses and Organizations were encouraged to register and recruit more walkers from their workplace to promote the transition from cycling or driving to walking this fall. Each team received a team leader kit to help promote the event at their workplace.

Of the 12 registered teams, 41 employees participated, walking over 450 km to and from work during the week. A great start!

The Winners!
Each participant in Walk to Work Week received an i-Go prize pack and everyone’s name went into a draw for additional prizes including yoga mats, GC’s, etc. The following teams won the team prizes.

Acro Media: The winner of the Golden Shoe Award for the average furthest distance walked per person is Acro Media with 17.4 km

Acro Media

KDSCL: Furthest distance walked during the week was KDSCL with a total of 82 km. The most new walkers was awarded to KDSCL as well, with three new walkers on their team.

Mission Hill: had the highest participation rate (100%) with every team member walking every day.

City of Kelowna Capri Pavement Stompers:70% of the employees at their office participated at least one day.
