Kelowna Parade Float
The tradition of the parade float goes as far back as 1874. Since that time, the float has seen a few changes but the consistency of the Ogopogo as its featured icon has remained.
Plans are underway to redesign the parade float. An open house was held April 15, 2010 to review concept drawings and receive feedback from residents. Visit the Downloads section to review the panels.
The refinement of the parade float design is underway will be brought forward to City Council for approval.
Kelowna's parade float travels extensively throughout western Canada and the United States and typically participates in over 20 parades annually. This past year the parade float won numerous awards and placed in the top three in 13 events.
Construction is anticpated to begin this spring with the official unveiling this summer.
The budget is $50,000 to design and construct the float.
