Historical Bernard Avenue
One of the Downtown's strengths is a concentrated inventory of historic buildings that are a legacy of the original town site established at the foot of Bernard Avenue. Docks and nautically-related and transportation-dependent businesses along the waterfront in turn gave birth to enterprises serving the day-to-day needs of the local population. Stretching up from the Lake, the buildings lining either side of Bernard Avenue defined the community's main street.
