Houghton Road Multi-use Corridor Project
The proposed Houghton Road Multi-use Corridor will be a multi-phased project over many years that will parallel Highway 33 and act as an alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists in Rutland.
The ultimate vision for the project is to connect the Rutland Town Centre with the future Rails with Trails and surrounding neighbourhoods. Funding has been secured for construction of the first phase of the project from Nickel Road to Hollywood Road approximately 1100 metres. The funding was part of the Infrastructure Grant program provided by senior levels of Government with the City is contributing one-third of the cost.
The Preliminary Design Plan for the first phase has been complete and can be viewed under Downloads to the right. This project is now in the Detail Design Phase with construction anticipated in 2010.
A public information session will be held on the project once a timeframe for construction is established.
