Background
Under provincial jurisdiction until the 1980's, today Gordon Drive is one of the City's main arterial routes to the rapidly growing Mission area and South Slopes.
Current planning and design for Gordon Drive is based on the 1996 Southwest Mission Sector Plan and major road servicing needs. The four-laning of this arterial is based on current and expected traffic volume increases as outlined in the 2020 Official Community Plan (OCP).
Infrastructure Stimulus Funding was announced in 2009 which allowed the reconstruction of the Gordon Drive Bridge to happen sooner than later.
The award for the design of the project was extended to Stantec in December 2006.
