Mugford Park

In 2005, a six hectare parcel located at the intersection of Mugford Road and Stetson Street in Rutland was acquired by the City of Kelowna for development as a neighbourhood park.

The preliminary design concepts for the park were presented at a public Open House on April 30th, 2009 and the plans were well recieved by the community.

The park will feature a number of different landscaping sectionspdf icon to buffer the park from the adjacent ALR land and nearby roads.

The conceptual planpdf icon for the park also includes:
  • perimeter walking trails
  • playground
  • half basketball court
  • ornamental tree and shrub plantings
  • open play field / informal lawn
  • perimeter fencing
  • grass bioswale
  • elevated play mound
  • sidewalk chalk paved circle
  • lighting
  • benches
  • community bulletin board
Priority for construction of the park will be determined by City Council during the 2010 budget deliberations. As the detailed design on this project is refined, public input on this project is welcomed.
