Mountain Bike Skills Park
|
 Future Skills Park Location
| 2010 will see the construction of Kelowna’s first mountain bike skills park.
The new $242,000 mountain bike skills park will be located on a 3.4 hectare site at 1960 Hollywood Road South, adjacent to the Mission Creek Greenway. While construction was scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2009, cold and wet weather has delayed the opening of the park to spring 2010.
Activities within the skills park will range from simple ladder bridges, skinnies, small berms, and whoop-de-doos. The skills park will provide the opportunity for mountain bikers of all levels of experience to develop a range of skills including bike handling, balancing, jumping and turning. See the site plan for more information. The need for a mountain bike skills park was identified as part of the 2008 Kelowna & Area Mountain Bike Strategy. The park will be designed by a mountain bike park expert in collaboration with local riders and the Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan .
