RSS - Really Simple Syndication

Enjoy the convenience of having information come to you – subscribe to the City of Kelowna’s RSS feeds to keep abreast of employment opportunities, Council minutes, news releases, transportation updates, bidding opportunities and available rental properties.

What is RSS?

RSS - or Really Simple Syndication – allows you to receive new information from your favourite websites quickly and conveniently. Using a format called XML, RSS collects the latest updates from your selected sites (for example, the City of Kelowna Career Opportunities) and delivers the updates directly to your RSS reader.

Why use RSS?

  • It's timely: updates arrive to your RSS reader as changes occur on your subscribed sites.
  • It's convenient: receive the latest information without having to surf through various websites.
  • It’s efficient: updates are delivered to you without filling up your e-mail inbox.

How do I subscribe?

Step 1 – Launch a RSS Reader

To subscribe to an RSS feed, you must have a RSS reader. Most update web browsers (such as Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, or Safari) have an RSS reader built in. For further details, see your browser's help section. However, if you are running an older version or prefer to have more custom settings, there are also many RSS Readers available for download from the Internet.

Step 2 – add the Feed

In most cases, simply click on the RSS icon RSS Icon next to the desired RSS Feed and follow the prompts to subscribe to the feed. If you are using an internet based reader, you may need to copy and paste the URL for the RSS feed into your RSS reader.

To unsubscribe, simply delete the RSS feed from your Reader.
