Most Environmentally Dedicated Individual
2010 Winner: Al King
As Facilities Manager at UBC Okanagan, Al King has been a force of nature in recent years. From purchasing a giant composter that collects more than 180 pounds of food waste a day on campus, to building long-lasting picnic tables from recycled material, Al has a passion to prevent waste. He has set up recycling programs for everything from the usual paper and plastics, to batteries, Styrofoam and wood pallets. He also has plans to help set up a community garden outside the new student services building.
Runners-up are Grant Rice and Sarah Lewis.
