Home Owner Grant
The Provincial Home Owner Grant program helps reduce the amount of residential property tax homeowners pay. The grant is available to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who live in British Columbia.
How to Claim Your Home Owner Grant

- You must complete the grant application attached to your Property Tax Notice. If you qualify for the additional grant and wish to obtain it, you must tick the box that describes your qualification. If over 65, state your birth date.

Important: To avoid penalty, owners are required to apply annually for a grant with the City of Kelowna prior to the tax due date even if you are not paying taxes that are due at that time or your financial institution pays the taxes on your behalf.

Unable to Apply
If an applicant is unable to apply, the application may be made by the applicant's committee or a person appointed in writing as the applicant's attorney. A Power of Attorney Form(C) must be attached and sent in with the Home Owner Grant Application.

Forgot to Claim Last Year's Grant
- The deadline is December 31 of the current year. However, after the deadline, you have a year to apply for an extension to claim a retroactive home owner grant. You must provide a written explanation for missing the deadline, and a completed and signed Retroactive Home Owner Grant Application
