Watch highlights from the 2015 Civic & Community Awards

The City of Kelowna’s Civic and Community Awards program recognizes and celebrates outstanding contributions and achievements each year in our community. The 42nd Annual Awards night will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

The nomination period for the 42nd Annual Awards will recognize individuals, businesses and organizations for their contributions in 2016. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, February 17th, 2017.

Award Categories


Arts Awards

Teen Honour in the Arts  online nomination / pdf nomination
Sponsored by Prospera Credit Union
Awarded to a youth who has made an outstanding contribution in Kelowna through cultural and/or artistic efforts. Nominees must be between the ages of 13 and 19 as of Dec. 31, 2016.

Honour in the Arts  online nomination / pdf nomination
Sponsored by Prospera Credit Union
Awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in Kelowna through cultural and/or artistic efforts.

Citizenship Awards

Young Female Volunteer of the Year   online nomination / pdf nomination
Sponsored by the YMCA of Okanagan
Awarded to a young female, in recognition of her overall outstanding contributions to the city of Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields. Nominees must be between the ages of 13 and 19 as of Dec. 31, 2016. The three finalists will each receive funding towards their post secondary education, from the Dillon Thomas Budd Youth Scholarship.

Sponsored by the YMCA of Okanagan
Awarded to a young male, in recognition of his overall outstanding contributions to the city of Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields. The Central Okanagan Foundation, Volunteer Organization of the Year  online nomination / pdf nomination
Awarded to a volunteer or non-profit organization that has provided outstanding community services, with direct benefits to the city of Kelowna. Services may be related to environment, health, arts and culture, recreation, education, social services, neighbourhood and community improvement.

Sarah Donalda Treadgold Memorial Woman of the Year  online nomination / pdf nomination

Awarded to a women in recognition of her overall outstanding contributions to the city of Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields.

Awarded to a man in recognition of his overall outstanding contributions to the city of Kelowna. Contributions may be related to recreation, the arts, education, humanities, community service, medical, business and commercial fields.

Awarded to a Kelowna business that has provided outstanding support for employee volunteerism in addition to financial contributions and initiatives having had a direct benefit to the city of Kelowna. May be related to environment, health, arts and culture, recreation, education, social services, neighbourhood and community improvement.

Champion for the Environment (Individual & Business)   online nomination / pdf nomination

Awarded to an individual and a business whose actions and achievements have shown outstanding environmental leadership or innovative environmental contributions, having a direct benefit on the city of Kelowna. Selections are based on environmental initiatives and contributions for the year 2016.

Sports Awards

Bob Giordano Memorial Award   online nomination / pdf nomination
Awarded to an individual who has contributed significantly to Kelowna through voluntary service
to amateur sport, such as coaching or administrative support.

Bryan Couling Memorial Award  online nomination / pdf nomination

Awarded to the Kelowna based team (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount
of recognition to Kelowna in 2016.

Athlete of the Year - Female   online nomination / pdf nomination
Awarded to a female athlete (amateur or professional) who brought the greatest amount of
recognition to Kelowna in 2016.

Athlete of the Year - Male   online nomination / pdf nomination
