Sites

In total the Task Force evaluated 13 sites, four privately-owned and nine City-owned properties. Four sites were located in Rutland, one in the Pandosy Town Centre and nine in downtown Kelowna. Using a rational decision making matrix the Task Force concluded any of six sites downtown (map) would be appropriate locations for the development.

The City initially identified 74 privately-owned viable sites; letters were sent to private land owners to determine if they would be willing to negotiate a sale with the City for the proposed development. Four sites resulted from this process.

Six sites were submitted by the public for the Task Force to consider; five sites did not meet all the mandatory requirements and the existing building on the final site would not support additional storeys to accommodate the proposed development.

The City also reviewed its inventory of property and identified nine viable sites.
