Transit - getting you where you want to go!
Sit back, relax, sleep, read, do some computer work or just daydream and let somebody else do the driving! By taking a ride on the Kelowna Regional Transit System you can avoid the hassle and stress of driving yourself, save money and do your bit for the environment.
For information about a bus route in your area, schedules and times, or to make a transit inquiry, please visit our website at www.BCTransit.com. Browse the site to learn more about transit. Information is available on pass options, our various customer service programs, long range transit planning for our region and more.
Did you know?
The Kelowna Regional Transit System is one of only a few communities in Canada using hybrid electric buses in their transit system (Kelowna was the first community in Canada to use such a vehicle in it's transit fleet!). The three buses set the standards for fuel efficient, environmentally-friendly bus fleets.
In addition to hybrid electric buses, the Kelowna Regional Transit System is proud to have many double-decker buses in service. The double-decker buses eliminate the need for extra buses on busy routes and get better fuel mileage than regular buses. In fact, one double-decker bus replaces two regular buses saving more than $40/hour in operating costs!
All Kelowna Regional Transit buses are equipped with bike racks allowing users to combine travel modes making it even easier to choose transit and active transportation for your travel needs.
Funding for the Kelowna Regional Transit System is cost shared between the City of Kelowna, Central Okanagan Regional District, District of Lake Country and BC Transit.
Decisions about fares, routes and service levels are made by Kelowna City Council, the Regional District Board and Lake Country Council based on information and planning provided by the Municipal Systems Program of BC Transit.
The buses are operated by First Group Inc on behalf of the funding partners. |
