Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The program is only available for City of Kelowna residents. 

How many trees can I order?

Trees are limited to one per household. 

What is the cost of the tree?

Each tree is $40 + GST. 

How can I purchase a tree?

You can pre-order your tree online. If you do not already have a recreation client account, you will need to set one up by calling 250-469-8800. You can also pay by credit card over the phone by calling 250-469-8800, or visit the friendly staff at Parkinson Recreation Centre to pay by cash, debit or credit card. 

Where do I pick up my tree?

The NeighbourWoods event is on April 21, 2018. Individuals can pick-up their tree from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mission Recreation Park Arboretum, 4105 Gordon Drive. Please bring your receipt (if applicable), proof of residency and a vehicle that’s appropriate for transporting a tree. There are a limited number of each tree type. Trees will be available for purchase until sold out.

Can I cancel my tree order?

Tree orders can be cancelled as long as if there’s someone on the waitlist for a tree. A $5 cancellation fee will apply.

Can I waitlist for a tree?

Yes, you can waitlist for a tree. You can waitlist online, by calling 250-469-8800, or in-person at the Parkinson Recreation Centre. Payment is not required for waitlist. 

What trees are available this year?

There are six tree varieties available: Autumn Blaze® Maple, Cardinal Mountain Ash, Hot Wing® Maple, Ivory Silk Lilac, Red Rocket Maple, Top Gun®Bur Oak. You can view the tree descriptions on our NeighbourWoods page.

How large are the trees when they are picked up?

Tree size will vary depending on the tree. Expect to pick-up a tree that is approximately 6 to 10 feet tall. You can view the tree descriptions on our NeighbourWoods page to see how large each tree will become once fully grown.

What is the second tree preference memo for?

As trees arrive for the NeighbourWoods event the day before, there are some instances where the trees are not suitable to be sold and it’s too late to receive a replacement. In the event that occurs, we will provide you with your second choice. 

What if I can’t pick my tree up on April 21?

Individuals must be able to pick-up their tree during the event on April 21, or their tree will be donated to the City of Kelowna and planted on city property. You can have someone pick-up the tree on your behalf; however, they must have the receipt. 

Can I have a refund if my tree dies?

There are no refunds for trees. A one-page tree planting guide will be available during pickup. You can also watch an instructional tree planting video and view tree descriptions to determine the best fit for your yard on our NeighbourWoods page.
