City Park

Located at 1600 Abbott Street in downtown Kelowna, City Park is our largest beach front park. The park's waterfront promenade connects City Park to Kerry Park, Stuart Park and Waterfront Park.

Park amenities
  • Promenade connects to the Abbott recreational corridor and Bennett Bridge to the south and to Waterfront Park to the north.

  • Five beach volleyball courts.
  • Two tennis courts.
  • Two basketball courts. One court has 600 seat grandstand.
  • Skateboard park, children’s waterpark and playground.
  • Permanent Concession in operation May to October.
  • Beachfront park with sandy swimming beach. No Lifeguards on duty.
  • Cenotaph: This group of monuments situated in an expansive plaza honours Kelowna's war and peacekeeping personnel lost in World War I, World War II, Korea and other military operations. The Veendam Walkway is dedicated to one of Kelowna's sister cities, Veendam, Holland, liberated by local troops in 1944.

Waterfront Park

Located in the city centre on Water Street, Waterfront Park features many iconic and diverse feautures including public art and beautiful landscapes. A wooden boardwalk is an element of the lakefront promenade which connects to Stuart Park, Kerry Park and City Park.

Stuart Park

Located directly across from City Hall on Water Street, Stuart Park is part of the lakefront promenade that connects City Park, Kerry Park and Waterfront Park. The park features an open air skating rink during the winter months.

Bookings
  • Stuart Park is bound by a Community Trust in which no commercial activity can take place on trust lands. This includes retail and food vendors on site as part of larger events. Stuart Park can only be booked for non-profit events.
  • Ice rink bookings will not be accepted as it is intended for public enjoyment.

Rotary Arts Common and Art Walk

The Rotary Arts Common and Art Walk are located in the heart of the Cultural District, outside of the Rotary Centre for the Arts on Cawston Avenue. The Common is situated between the Rotary Centre for the Arts and the Kelowna Art Gallery. The Art Walk connects the Common to the Kelowna Community Theatre and downtown. Enjoy a picnic lunch with a friend, on one of the many park benches. Check out the cultural information kiosk located in the park.

  • Large event site.
  • No washroom facilities in the park, however washrooms are available inside the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Event organizers are required to make arrangements with the Centre if they require access to washrooms during an event.
  • Electrical available in multiple locations throughout Arts Common.
  • Ample paid parking available on street and at the nearby Library Parkade and Prospera Place.
Bookings
  • Booking is for the outdoor space only. To book the Rotary Centre for the Arts or the Kelowna Art Gallery they must be contacted directly.
  • Special Occasion Licenses are permitted, subject to City of Kelowna liquor policy and BCLCLB requirements.

Knox Mountain Park

This dedicated parkland at the north end of Ellis Street (450 Knox Mountain Drive) features trails and breathtaking views that overlook the city and Okanagan Lake. The park reaches the lakeshore via the Paul's Tomb Trail which features two bays with pebble beaches that are great for swimming.

Park amenities
  • The park supports numerous activities including but not limited to walking, running, hiking, pedal biking (road, cross country and downhill), birding, nature appreciation, sightseeing, winter recreation and dogs on-leash.
  • Two tennis courts.
  • 18 hole disc golf course at base of mountain.
  • Parking is available at various locations in the park.
  • Washrooms at various locations along paved road.
  • Off-leash dog park.
  • Three lookout points at various levels on the mountain (Crown, Pioneer Pavilion and Apex Lookouts).
  • Electrical service at base of park
Bookings
  • Only one rental will be permitted between Friday to Sunday, with the exception of long weekends where TWO rentals may be permitted.

Smaller Event and Wedding Parks

The City of Kelowna boasts many water front and community parks that fit for smaller event sites or weddings.

Kasugai Gardens

Located off Queensway Avenue immediately east of City Hall, Kasugai Gardens offers a tranquil environment featuring traditional elements of a Japanese garden. The garden was completed in 1987 to demonstrate the friendship and union between Kelowna and its sister city in Kasugai, Japan.  It is a perfect place for a stroll, picture taking and even a small wedding ceremony.

The park integrates traditional elements notable in Japanese gardens, such as stone lanterns, pine trees, waterfalls and a pond stocked with Koi. It is a beautiful integration of stone, pathways, plants and water.

  • Walled park features a waterfall, wood bridges, tea garden, stone lanterns and koi in the lily pond.
  • Pathways throughout the park are wheelchair accessible.
  • Electrical service is not available at this park.
  • Accepted bookings for Wedding Ceremonies only.
  • No other rental bookings are permitted in the park.
  • Bookings are taken starting February 14 (or 1st working day) of the current year and are for that year only.
  • No washrooms on site.

Sutherland Park
  • Beach front park in Kelowna's north end, across from Knox Mountain
  • Small event site. not suitable for festivals or major events
  • Public washrooms onsite.

Strathcona Park

Located at 1800 Parkinson Way.

Apple room - 6,000 sq ft

  • Popular for weddings, dinner dance (up to 400 guests), tradeshows/fairs and company parties.

Macintosh room - 4,000 sq ft

  • Popular for weddings, dinner dance (up to 175 guests), and meetings.

Amenities and features available with kitchen and room rental:

    • Tables and chairs - your choice of rectangular tables (8’x2.5’) seating 8 per table or round tables (5’ diameter) seating 8 per table
    • Commercial grade six ring natural gas range with 2 ovens and griddle
    • Commercial dishwasher

Extra fees & Requirements:

Insurance premiums

  • Renters must provide proof of liability insurance appropriate for the Facility Use Agreement to the Parkinson Recreation Centre at least 48 hours prior to holding the event. The insurance policy must have a minimum value of $2,000,000 per occurrence and must name the City of Kelowna as an additional insured.
  • Insurance for events is available through All Sport Insurance Marketing Ltd. Should a renter choose to purchase this insurance, we can forward the request and payment directly to All Sport Insurance at the time of booking.

Special Occasion Licence

If an event will be serving liquor, a Special Occasion Licence Application must be approved by the City and security must be on site during the rental (at the renter's cost).  The renter must comply with the Designated Driver Awareness Program as per Council Policy 310 and all other laws, regulations and bylaws in its use of the facility.  

SOCAN & Re:Sound Tariffs

  • The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers (SOCAN) is Canada’s national performing rights society. Its role is to license the public performances of music in return for performing rights fees.
  • Re:Sound is the Canadian not-for-profit music licensing company dedicated to obtaining fair compensation for artists and record companies for their performance rights.
  • The Copyright Act of Canada requires that users of any music pay SOCAN and/or Re:Sound Tariffs to perform or authorize others to perform or use copyright music.  Performances of music in public, whether in restaurants, clubs, hotels, banquet halls, dance halls, offices, stores etc., all require payment of the tariffs whether performed live or by recording and/or when broadcasting, communicating or playing recorded music in public.

Security

  • The city may require the renter pay for additional services of bonded uniformed security at functions.

  • We may require the renter to pay for setup & takedown services.

Cedar Creek Community Centre

Located at 5160 Chute Lake Road, in Kelowna.

  • Available for rental from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Special Occasion License is permitted at this location.
  • Tables and chairs available on site for 60 people.
  • Renters are responsible for set up and take down.
  • Kitchen is equipped with a stove and sink.
  • Renters are to provide all dishes and cutlery.
  • Meeting room space of 17` x 19` - 323 sq .ft. capacity 25 people.
  • Community room space of 30` x 30` 900 sq feet 60 people.
  • Proof of insurance is required for all centre bookings.
  • Washroom facilities located in the building.
  • Wheelchair accessible.
  • Parking for 30 vehicles.

  • Available for rental.
  • Capacity for 60 people.
  • Renters are responsible for set up and take down.

Kinsmen Media Centre (Mission Recreation Park)
  • Proof of insurance is required for all centre bookings.
  • Washroom facilities: Two bathrooms at the facility (additional washroom on main floor).
  • Capacity of 50 people.
  • Windows on all sides, but blinds on all windows if needed.
  • Not wheelchair accessible.
  • Six-foot rectangle tables and 40 chairs.
  • Building located in the middle of the ball diamonds.
  • Renters are responsible for set up and take down.

Okanagan Mission Activity Centre

Located at 4398 Hobson Rd.

  • Available for rentals not extending after 10:00pm.  Includes hall, kitchen and grounds.
  • Capacity for 70 people.
  • Kitchen has stove and fridge.
  • Renter to provide all dishes, cutlery etc.
  • Renters are responsible for set up and take down.
  • Proof of insurance is required for all centre bookings.

Rutland Activity Centre

  • Meeting room capacity 20 people.
  • Multi-purpose room capacity 50 people.
  • Hall capacity 150 people.
  • Kitchen has a stove, fridge and sink.
  • Tables and chairs for 30 people.  Additional tables and chairs are the responsibility of the renter.
  • Renter to provide all dishes, cuterly etc.
  • Renter responsible for setup and takedown.
