Stay informed, follow the journey
In recognition of British Columbia’s Homelessness Action Week, Oct. 8 – 14, the City of Kelowna is encouraging residents to participate in the Journey Home strategy by joining an online discussion.
The City of Kelowna along with community partners are creating a long-term strategy, called Journey Home. The strategy will create an action plan that brings together community services to address housing and homelessness by ensuring there is a clear place to go for support – with a “no wrong door” approach, any agency will be able to connect an individual with the services they need.
“We’re committed to developing a safe and inclusive community where people from all walks of life can find their home,” said Sue Wheeler, Social Development Manager. “Journey Home is underway and we have been receiving lots of questions and comments from residents. We have set up an online space so residents have a greater opportunity for conversation about homelessness in our community, as well as a chance to learn more about what is being done.”

As the Journey Home strategy develops there will be other opportunities for public feedback and participation online and in-person. This is part of a larger consultation process which also includes feedback from community members who have experienced homelessness and will provide valuable perspectives on how to tackle the issue.
