Sarsons Beach Park expansion starts this week
Work to expand a popular lakefront park in Kelowna gets underway this week. Starting Wednesday, June 24, and periodically until the end of August, construction crews will be on site at Sarsons Beach Park, located just off Lakeshore Road in Kelowna’s Lower Mission area.
The $230,000 Sarsons Beach Park expansion project, identified in the City’s 10-year Capital Plan, will create more space for park users by adding 0.28 acres of park space. The park’s existing facilities include small grassy areas, a playground, picnic tables and washroom facilities.
To facilitate the expansion, a home on the property was demolished allowing room for an expanded open lawn area and new landscaping. New fencing and an entrance gate will also be added.
Construction will follow the City’s Good Neighbour Bylaw as it relates to noise. Active construction will be limited to Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will involve importing fill and earthwork with heavy equipment. While construction is underway, access to the park will be limited.
