Return to stage one watering restrictions for customers south of Mission Creek
The ‘Stage 4’ watering restrictions for City Water Utility customers south of Mission Creek have been lifted. Customers can return to the ‘Stage 1’ watering restrictions, which have been in place since June, and follow the outdoor watering schedule accordingly.
The City Water Utility sincerely appreciates the patience and cooperation of these customers during this time. This cooperation helped ensure the continued supply of adequate and safe water for customers south of Mission Creek.
A mechanical failure at the Eldorado pump station occurred on the evening of Sept 4., resulting in the shutdown of the station and prompting the ‘Stage 4’ watering restrictions for City Water Utility customers south of Mission Creek. The failed mechanical components have now been replaced but the well that collects water ready for distribution, required cleaning, disinfection and laboratory confirmation that water quality met drinking water standards and Interior Health approval before the pump station could be put back in service.
All City Water Utility customers are under the ‘Stage 1” water restriction stage. Under ’Stage 1’, properties with an odd number address can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and those with an even address number can water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
