News release

Free family events are back in Kelowna this summer! Park & Play and Dancing in the Park will both return this month with the first free dance class in Stuart Park tomorrow night.

“In alignment with BC’s Restart Plan, we’re excited to be able to once again provide free, family-friendly events over the summer that can help to bring neighbourhoods together and promote healthy activity,” said Mariko Siggers, Community & Neighbourhood Services Manager.

Dancing in the Park Dancing in the Park takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in Stuart Park. Enjoy a different dance style every week, including Zumba, hip hop, country & western and more. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Plus, Sunset Yoga will follow the event from 8-9 p.m. from July 21 until Aug. 11. Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle. Find the schedule and learn more on the City calendar

Park & Play Starting on Monday, July 19, the Park & Play crew will be back out at neighbourhood parks across Kelowna on weeknights from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with free games and activities for all ages. You can also find Park & Play activities on Bernard Avenue as part of #meetmeonbernard on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon. This year’s Park & Play runs until August 27. Find the schedule and learn more on the City calendar. Park & Play is supported by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union.

Parents and guardians are reminded that they are responsible for the care and supervision of their children and are encouraged to use active transportation such as walking or biking to get to the events.

“Residents are also reminded to keep COVID-19 safety in mind this season,” said Siggers. “As we make continued efforts to emerge from the pandemic, we ask that residents stay home if they feel unwell and take personal hygiene precautions as appropriate, such as bringing hand sanitizer with them to events.”
