Major delays on Glenmore Road North starting Monday
All traffic heading into Kelowna from areas like McKinley Landing and Lake Country will be detoured onto John Hindle Drive from Monday July 13 to Wednesday July 15 to accommodate road resurfacing. The southbound lanes of Glenmore Road will be closed from John Hindle Drive to Cross Road. Northbound traffic will continue to operate through this section.
“This northern section of Glenmore Road is single lane traffic so we need to reduce the road to one lane while we work on the other,” says Bruce Dacre, Design Technician. “The choice to detour southbound traffic was made because Glenmore is a busy road and single lane alternating traffic would cause significant delays in both directions.”
Motorists are encouraged to choose an alternate route of travel from Monday to Wednesday to reduce delays.
Paving of Glenmore Road from Kane Road to Begbie Road began on June 29 and is anticipated to be completed by July 16, weather permitting.
The City of Kelowna and workers on site appreciate the patience of residents, businesses and motorists while road work is underway. Noise due to the road resurfacing is expected.
