Last chance to pre-order a NeighbourWoods tree

September 16, 2022

Public service announcement

If you’ve been looking for a sign to plant a tree in your yard this fall, this is it. There is just one weekend left to pre-order a NeighbourWoods tree. Sales close on Monday, Sept. 19. Kelowna residents are invited to purchase one of six tree varieties at a reduced price of $50 + GST. NeighbourWoods is a residential planting initiative that encourages Kelowna citizens to help grow and preserve our urban forest. This year’s varieties include the American Hackberry, Galaxy Magnolia, Ivory Silk Japanese Tree Lilac, Maidenhair Gingko, Northern Herald® Redbud and the Redpointe® Maple. Please note that due to demand, tree purchases are restricted to one per household, per year. There is a limited number of each tree species available for purchase, so your first choice may not be available. View the tree descriptions online and pre-order your tree of choice online at kelowna.ca/neighbourwoods. To order online, residents must have an active online recreation account through rec.kelowna.ca. Pre-orders can also be made by phone with a credit card at 250-469-8800. The NeighbourWoods pick-up event will take place on Saturday, September 24. Residents can pick up their tree from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mission Recreation Park Arboretum, 4105 Gordon Drive. Please bring your receipt, proof of residency and a vehicle that’s appropriate for transporting a tree. For more information about the NeighbourWoods program or to pre-order, visit kelowna.ca/neighbourwoods.
