Highlights of March 18 Council meeting
The 18th hole at the Quail at Okanagan Golf Course is getting an overhaul. Council gave first reading to the proposed Official Community Plan and rezoning amendments for multi-family housing on the 18th hole. The proposal is to create 23 townhouse units in row housing and duplexes. The golf course will be reconfigured. The project was forwarded to an upcoming public hearing.
Council agreed to issue a development permit for 154 row housing units at 610 Academy Way, after deferring a decision January 7, 2019 for more information from the developer. Each unit in the ‘Academy Ridge’ development proposal would contain three bedrooms and the units would be contained in 30 separate buildings.
For the 17th consecutive year, the City was presented with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2018 Financial Plan by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The City was also recognized, for the 16th consecutive year, with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the 2017 Annual Report.
