Rutland multifamily

Council considered a rezoning request and Official Community Plan amendment to redevelop several lots on the corner of Leathead and Fraser Roads. The proposal is for a 16-unit row housing development including two-bedroom and three-bedroom units. Council gave first reading to the proposed rezoning and OCP amendment and forwarded the project to the February 2 public hearing.

Benvoulin Heritage Park

Council OK’d a request by the Central Okanagan Heritage Society to designate Benvoulin Heritage Park — including McIver House, Reid Hall, and the park — as a municipal heritage site for long-term protection.

Mixed-use on Pandosy

A rezoning request allowing for a new two-storey mixed-use building at the corner of Royal Avenue and Pandosy Street was reviewed by Council. The proposal includes ground-floor commercial units to support KGH, and second floor rental residential suites. Council gave first reading to the proposed rezoning and forwarded the project to the February 2 public hearing.

Affordable Housing Land Acquisition Strategy

Council heard a report outlining the need for an Affordable Housing Land Acquisition Strategy to purchase land for affordable rental housing. Council directed the City Manager to consider budget requests relating to the Strategy as part of the 2022 budget deliberations.
