Father’s Day Car Show lane and parking restrictions
The annual Boyd Autobody & Charity Car Show is coming up on Sunday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in City Park. For more information about the event, visit bringittoboyd.com.
There will be limited access to City Park parking lot on Saturday, June 15 from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. for event setup. The parking lot will be fully closed on Sunday, June 16 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. to accommodate the event. Park visitors are advised that vehicles and vendors will be located in the grass area adjacent to the parking lot and surrounding the children’s playground.
Traffic routes will be maintained in the downtown core as the participants make their way into the park with their vehicles, however, there will be lane and parking restrictions from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. along Leon Avenue, Water Street, Lawrence Avenue and Abbott Street. Traffic control personnel will be on-site and motorists are advised to be aware of the increased traffic in the area.
Public parking will be available at the Library Plaza Parkade located at 1360 Ellis Street, Memorial Parkade at 1420 Ellis Street and Chapman Parkade at 345 Lawrence Ave. Accessible parking will still be available in City Park parking lot. Residents can reduce traffic and parking congestion by choosing various modes of Active Transportation, such as biking, walking and carpooling. Shuttle service will be available for event-goers. Drivers will be going to and from the Kelowna Regional Library (1380 Ellis Street) to City Park from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Visit smartTRIPS.ca to learn more about how the City supports and promotes Active Transportation through events, programs, and education.
