Art, culture & heritage grants now open for local, non-profit groups

October 1, 2021

News Release

Grant applications are now open for local arts, culture and heritage organizations to access more than $150,000 in funding again this year. Those interested in applying for 2022 General Operating and Project Cultural Grants can find the guidelines and applications at

“As many of our arts and culture groups work to recover from the impact of the pandemic, these grants become more important than ever,” said Christine McWillis, Cultural Services Manager. “Our resilient arts and culture community has shown us incredible, creative works through the course of the past year, and we’re excited to support future initiatives that highlight our vibrant creative sector.”

There are two grants available for organizations to apply for:

  • General Operating Grants are extended to local arts, culture and heritage organizations which do most of their work in Kelowna and who work to advance the goals and strategies of the 2020-2025 Cultural Plan.
  • Project Grants are awarded to community organizations which provide a festival, event or project that features arts, culture or heritage and are accessible to the public. The Project Grant is open to all non-profit organizations, not just those in the creative sector.

Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming virtual information workshops:

  • October 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • October 6 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The free workshops will help to ensure applicants are ready to apply and share the tools that will be available to support them on the online platform. While the workshops are free, registration is required. Interested attendees can register online at

All General Operating and Project Grant applications are available through the online platform. The online application system helps to streamline our services and simplify the process for grant applicants.

Grant applications will be accepted until Tuesday, November 30 at 3 p.m. PST. Please note that late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Grant funding will be confirmed for successful applicants in February 2022.

Recipients of 2021 Cultural Grants are reminded that final reports are due by Monday, November 1 at 3 p.m. PST. The final reports are a requirement of receiving future City funding.
