Applications for neighbourhood grants due June 3
Public Service Announcement
Residents interested in creating unique neighbourhood enhancement projects are reminded that fall applications for the Neighbourhood Grant program are due June 3, 2022. Applications can be submitted through the online grant platform.
Offered in partnership with the Central Okanagan Foundation, these grants provide up to $1,500 in matching funds to groups of neighbours interested in leading neighbourhood enhancement projects. Grants awarded during the fall cycle will support projects taking place from August to November. Some project ideas include seed exchange libraries, portable play boxes, alley beautifications, murals, canning parties, art nights and more. Check out the 2021 projects supported by the grant to get inspired.
Not prepared to submit a grant application but still want to connect with your neighbours this summer or fall? The City of Kelowna’s Neighbourhood Event program provides access to staff and equipment like tables, chairs and tents to help make your neighbourhood event a success. There are still some event spaces left for summer and fall, so submit your application as soon as possible to secure your desired date.
For smaller gatherings, residents can also request access to our Meet your Street Kit. Meet your Street provides resources for building connections with your neighbours wherever you live, be it a street block or an apartment building. The Kit is still available for most weekends this summer, so get your request in soon and start planning your next neighbourhood event.
