The arts and culture community has a diverse range of needs when it comes to physical space. Though there is no 'one size fits all' solution, it is understood that cultural vitality depends on the availability of spaces for cultural consumption and for cultural production.
Creative Space Consultations
In 2016, through an on-line survey and eight Focus Groups, more than 200 local artists shared information about the spaces they work in, challenges they are encountering in accessing the creative spaces they need, and ideas for change.
Find a Space. List a Space. For Free.
Finding available and affordable facilities for artists and other creative sector workers to perform, rehearse, exhibit, conduct workshops and hold events can be a frustrating and time-consuming task. Conversely, venues often have under-utilized rental spaces that could provide them with additional revenue. SpaceFinder BC is a state-of-the-art online tool that provides solutions by connecting organizations with space to rent with the people who need space.
Initially launching in the Metro Vancouver area in 2016 and growing to include venues across the province, SpaceFinder BC was developed by Fractured Atlas, a New York based non-profit that eliminates barriers for artists through the development of new technology.
