Examples of success
The City of Kelowna needs to reduce the amount of water applied on our urban landscapes by at least 30 per cent, compared to 2007 levels. We can do this in new landscape construction, or as existing landscapes are gradually rebuilt.
The "Water Smart - Examples of Success" video shows examples from the Okanagan and around British Columbia that would meet the target for water conservation.
Examples are shown for:
- Single family homes
- Multiple family homes
- Parks and schoolgrounds
- Streets and subdivisions
Using these and other examples, the video introduces the concepts of how to design plantings, hardscape and irrigation systems to be water smart, while being useful and beautiful.
Achieving a 30 per cent reduction in landscape water use isn’t difficult – it’s just creative!
