Agricultural Advisory Committee

The Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) advises Council on agricultural land use, issues important to the agri-business community and economic development matters with respect to agriculture, and acts as a liaison between Council and the agricultural community. The primary objective of the AAC is to advise on sustainable agricultural land use from a multiple bottom line (cultural, economic, environmental and social) perspective. The committee may also function as a working group to advise on matters affecting the agri-business community as directed by Council.

The AAC consists of seven voting members with representation from greenhouse and nursery products, tree fruits, wine/grapes, livestock/animal husbandry, agricultural processing and/or distribution, and the agricultural community at large, with one additional non-voting member from Interior Health to provide input regarding community nutrition and food security. Two alternatives may be appointed to replace regular members unable to attend committee meetings. Alternate will be chosen from the agricultural community at large.

The committee will run concurrent with the four-year Council term with a mid-term review at the end of two years.
