Ballet Kelowna, in partnership with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO), closes the season with a special tribute performance in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary. With live musical tributes from the OSO to Canadian icons of classical, folk, and jazz creation, Ballet Kelowna will present four world premieres from celebrated Canadian choreographers: Donald Sales, Gioconda Barbuto, Matjash Mrozewki, and Simone Orlando, reflecting the striking beauty, rich history and diverse culture of our vast country.
The program finale will include a vibrant new ensemble work, co-created by award-winning choreographers, and former Ballet BC Principal Dancers, Orlando and Sales, set to jazz legend Oscar Peterson’s monumental Canadiana Suite, performed live by the OSO with Musical Director Rosemary Thomson.
