Our History
Celebrating 50 years
In 1962, the town of Kelowna had about 15,000 residents and a brand new theatre. From the beginning, the Kelowna Community Theatre has truly been "the community's theatre" with citizens playing a big role in its funding and construction. Today, the small town has grown into a thriving, vibrant city with a theatre that celebrated 50 years of live entertainment on September 13, 2012.
A Golden Anniversary Showcase to commemorate the theatre's past, present and future took place on this special day and featured some of Kelowna's finest performers including Ballet Kelowna, the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, the Theatre Kelowna Society, Wentworth Music, Dance City Academy, Robert Fine and many more. This red carpet event was filled with some of the best live entertainment ever to grace the Kelowna Community Theatre.
