Community Consultations
The City of Kelowna contracted the services of Kelowna-based R. W. Peter & Associates to develop a corporate identity program.
Costs of the Corporate Identity Program were $35,000 for community consultations and research; $10,000 for logo development; and $35,000 for the Visual Standards Guide, print and electronic templates and an updated design for the City’s website, kelowna.ca.
 The work was conducted in three phases:
- Situation Analysis/Research

- Consultations with community members
and City staff included 70 one-on-one interviews, an online survey and two round table focus group sessions.
- Review of exisiting surveys and public consulations
- Development of development of the new brand drivers

- Inventory review of existing internal and external marketing materials.
- Brand Identity/Development

- Explore Logo design based on the newly developed brand drivers.
- Review Logo designs with community stakeholders
- Recommend brand hierarchy to preserve strength of primary brand while allowing opportunities for a secondary brand identity for other departments (theatre, airport, etc).
- Present recommendation to City Council
- Submit to legal for registration of trademark
- Implementation

- Create final logo artwork and various file formats
- Develop a print graphic standards manual
(brand font and colour palette, usage, etc.)
- Develop a signage graphic standards manual
(building and site signage, City vehicles, street banners, etc.)
- Develop design files and guidelines for stationary including business cards, letterhead and envelopes; memorandum, and fax cover sheet; posters; brochures; and reports.
- Design a concept for the Recreation Activity & Program Guide.
- Design a concept for the website home page.
- Identify marketing opportunities where the City logo should be utilized by others to indicate City ownership or sponsorship.
- Develop a Brand launch event and brand launch brochure.
