General

Loading Bay

The level-entry loading bay leads directly onto stage right, separated by an interior bay door. There is no loading platform.

Overhead door size:  9'9" high by 9’9" wide 

Stage Power

  • 60 amps isolated ground 120 V available throughout house for audio only
  • 50 A isolated ground range plugs at downstage right and left
  • 50 Amp distribution panel
  • Road Show Power: 200A and 100A Cam Locks US Center 3 4 wire, 208 volts with reversible ground (Use of show power requires a temporary electrical permit. The cost is charged to the user.  Two weeks advance notice is required.)

Parking

Kelowna Community Theatre clients have eight dedicated parking spots available by the loading bay and stage door. Parking passes can be issued upon arrival if required. There is also space for one or two semi-trailers or buses in front of the loading bay doors; however this may reduce available vehicle parking. 50 Amp shore power is available for tour buses – 75’ power cable is required 
 
Additional parking is available the Library Parkade located adjacent to the Theatre.

Dressing Rooms

Stage Level:

  • Dressing Room A: 15+ person capacity with washroom and 2 showers

Upper Level:

  • Dressing Room B: 15+ person capacity with washroom and 2 showers
  • Dressing Room C: 2 people, 1 shower/ washroom
  • Dressing Room D: 2 people, 1 shower/ washroom

Wardrobe Room

The wardrobe room contains a clothes washer and dryer, ironing board and iron. It can also be used as an extra dressing room if required.

Green Room

The Green room is a large room, comfortably renovated with several couches and chairs located adjacent to the upper level dressing rooms. The room includes a bar, sink, fridge, microwave, TV, stereo so it is ideal as a “meet and greet” lounge.

Stage Floor:   4' x 8' Duratex sheets painted black. Limited screwing or nailing is allowed with permission from the theatre technician. Painting of the stage floor may be allowed with permission of the theatre technician

Orchestra Pit/ Dance Area

The Apron can be removed to create an orchestra pit – depth of pit below stage is 4' 10". The apron can be dropped to floor level to create a dance floor area or space for additional seating.  
Alterations to the Apron require at least 7 days notice and cost an additional labor fee.

  • 2 x Sanyo PLC-XP55 Projectors with dedicated screens permanently hung in house
  • 3 x Elmo PTC-100S video cameras controlled by Edirol LVS-400 video mixer. Video control station is located in technical room.
  • 2 x Benq MP512 Video projector, 2000 Lumen, short throw/ wide screen  lens
  • Toshiba DVD Player
  • 1 x Dalite 10' 6" x 14' Rear Projection Fast-Fold Screen, flyable
  • 1 x 19’ x 40' midstage cyclorama /projection screen is typically located at MS or DS positions

    Additional cost for use of video camera system

  • Piano tuning is recommended and available upon request; however please give at least one week notice. Tuning charge’s are billed to the client .

    Only the piano tuner designated by KCT is permitted to tune the pianos.

Fly System

Kelowna Community Theatre is equipped with a full complement of drapery and lights as specified on the house hang plot. If flys need to be stripped or modified please give a minimum of 7 days notice. All house drapery and lighting must be restored to the house standard at the end of booking.

Client crew may be allowed to operate flys following a brief orientation by a KCT Technician. Only KCT technicians are permitted to load or unload the counter-weight arbours. All equipment added to a fly line will be inspected for safety by the KCT technician before it is flown. 

  • Line sets – 28 single purchase line sets (no grid)
  • Fly operation is stage left at stage level
  • Most of the battens have a total arbor load of 700 lbs
  • 5 Lx battens with a total arbor load of 1200 lbs
  • Legs and borders may be combined with a working height of 15’ releasing 4 pipes for other uses
  • FOH 1 is a 48’ Superbeam Truss suspended by motors 28’ apart leaving about 10’ cantilever
  • The truss has a capacity of 1000 kgs or less depending upon load conditions. It is generally used to hang only lighting instruments.

Black Box Theatre/ Rehearsal Hall

A 1200 ft2 multi – purpose room is available for small shows, rehearsals, meetings or other functions.   It is equipped with two washrooms, as well as a bar area with a sink and refrigerator. There is a very small backstage/dressing room area.

This room can be booked separately as a "Black Box" studio space.
