Key Findings


  • The City has a positive influence on residents quality of life, particularly in providing recreational and cultural pursuits.
    • 45% of residents use City parks on a weekly basis
  • Kelowna International Airport, firefighting services and parks maintenance are all critical strengths for the City. Weaknesses are road maintenance and policing.
  • More than one third of residents rated satisfaction with City services as very good or excellent.
  • Less than one third rated the value their receive for their tax dollars as very good or excellent.
  • Residents place a high priority on protecting natural areas and the water quality in Okanagan Lake
  • Only one quarter were very or extremely familiar with the City’s efforts to protect the environment.
  • Concerns over growth management is the most important issue for residents.
    • Residents are split on the issue of increasing density
    • 71.9% rated traffic congested as high or very high
    • Satisfaction with public transit is low and only 3.1% of residents use public transit as their primary mode of transportation
  • The City can improve its communications with citizens
