2010 Winner: UBC Okanagan
UBCO has seen the completion of a number of new, green buildings that use geothermal heating and cooling, with efficient designs that reduce energy use by up to 49 per cent compared to conventional buildings. Other innovations include Astroturf sportsfields that require no irrigation, a U-PASS transit option that boosted bus ridership by 48 per cent over the last three years and has installed benches and waste receptacles made mostly or recycled materials. Every year, 250 trees are planted on campus and has nearly 10 kilometres of walking and biking trails.
Runners up are Amberhill and The Ponds.
