Challenges
- Land Acquisition: it may take several years, perhaps even decades, to negotiate and acquire a continuous linear park;
- Topography: steep slopes, canyons and rock outcroppings may necessitate locating linear trails at the top of bank, therefore limiting physical access to the creek;
- Privacy: to address security and privacy concerns by landowners who live adjacent to the linear park;
- Implementation: cost and phasing of improvements such as foot bridges, pedestrian road crossings, boardwalks etc.
- Sustainability: balancing the environmental and riparian values of the creek corridor with the recreation desires of the community and the property rights of private landowners.
- Existing Development: to locate the linear park adjacent to the creek in a manner that least disrupts existing development.
