Central Okanagan Commuter Challenge
May 31 to June 5, 2010
The Commuter Challenge is a national program supporting workplaces as they encourage their employees to leave their cars at home and cycle, take transit, walk, carpool, rollerblade or skate to work.
Plus, transit is FREE on CLEAN AIR DAY (Wednesday June 2) - check out the photo gallery from the breakfast buses!
The first person from each organization to enter your workplace becomes the Team Administrator. Team Administrators will help encourage others to register online, log commutes during the commuter challenge and everyone participating at least one day will be eligible to WIN prizes! Visit our SPONSORS page to view our generous prize sponsors.
What events can I participate in?
During Clean Air Day, Wednesday June 2, all commuters taking green transportation are welcome to a FREE breakfast between 6:30 – 8:30 am at the following transit stations:
- Queensway Transit Station (Queensway Ave, Kelowna)
- Orchard Park Transit Station (Cooper Road, Kelowna)
- Stevens Exchange Transit Station (Westlake Road, West Kelowna)
Breakfast will be supplied by BLISS BAKERY in Peachland, with coffee from Perc’s, Blenz or Bliss, juice from Sunrype and fresh local fruit from Okanagan Tree Fruit Coop.
Who can participate?
Workplaces, organizations, schools, individuals and anyone in the entire Central Okanagan that does not drive alone to work or school (or will pledge to use alternative transportation during the week of May 31-June 5) and who can use a computer to record their commute.
How to register?
Visit our registration page to follow the steps to register yourself or start a new team. Registration for the Commuter Challenge is different than bike to work week. Every person participating has to log in and enter their own results. Learn more here.
